To be honest, I didn't even understand that thread at first... I literally thought it was a death pool and it made me sad. Couldn't figure out why you were favoured to croak first either if that's any consolation.

Thanks everyone for looking out for me - I'm well aware of what's going on as I read TT's Blackjack post last night.

In fact, last week when he had built up some points (5k or so), I asked him if he would just pay me back completely then since he clearly had the funds to do so. Yes that was not our agreement (which only called for at least 12/day on average though he was well behind that), but it seemed like a reasonable thing to ask of him (also asked if he would at least get up to date with the 12/day agreement if he didn't pay in full). He did not respond but did send me a few points (still far from caught up from the 12/day agreement).

As for his stuff about us making some other agreement to forgive the loan, no idea what on earth he is talking about, we never made any new agreement, and I'm curious as to what he would claim he offered me to randomly get me to forgive a loan of fairly big size.

Rather disheartening that someone can build up to 15k points and still refuse to pay off a 2k point loan before blowing it all in the casino, but frankly I guess that's the risk you run when you make loans to people, knowing that there are many people who can't control themselves on here (I'm very thankful not to be amongst them!). If I get stiffed in the end on this, well that's the risk I take when I make anyone a loan. It's not a huge deal to me - I wouldn't be making these loans if the points were something I was going to cry about at night over losing.

I still hold out hope that I might eventually get paid, but I'm certainly not holding my breath. As they say, don't loan out anything you can't afford to lose, and this was definitely not a case of me doing that. Thanks again to everyone for (trying) to look out for me in this regard
