Girlfriend's son is 9 and has a nasty mouth. When I was a kid, I had to abide by rules. I wouldn't say scare but I don't put up with crap and when the kid isn't yours, it's a major challenge to be partial

Just the other night our daughter came to our bedroom door & knocked. Then through the door she yelled "I think the boogie man is in my closet & I'm scared".
I responded "No honey, he's actually in here with Mommy & I so, you'd better get back to bed, I don't know how much longer I can hold him off for".
May not be the right thing to do but, I was able to get back to sleep.
