    Secaucus to NYC/Canal street
will likely be in the nyc area this week, staying in Secaucus NJ.
I'd like to go into NYC after work to walk around.
Dont want to drive. Anybody know the easiest train/metro route?

I want to go by canal street, but I dont know how late they are open, might only get there after 6pm.
you guys know when they shut down during the week? best metro station to take to get there?

for NYC, i want to walk around, nothing special, just be a tourist for a few hours.
for canal street, i want to pickup some crappy tshirts and sunglasses. was there a few years ago and i remember most of the vendors being on canal between 6th and broadway, but im not sure if thats right.

Take NJ transit from Secaucus to NY Penn Station. Take Subway A from Penn Station to Canal Street. Street vendors tend to stay open pretty long, but you might not have much time if you get there at 6.

Glad to help. Have fun on your trip. Might I suggest trying real pizza, real bagels and real soft pretzels.

But seriously, if your on canal, turn down mulberry st toward little Italy(10 min walk). Have lunch at Umberto's.
