Which show should I start on DVD, Walking Dead or Sons of Anarchy?

Why can't a thread like this exist in Player's Talk? If others are like me, they rarely visit "The Saloon," so no one is ever gonna see it to give their opinion. I don't see what the big deal is. So any thread that is not sports-/gambling-related is just instantaneously bounced to the sidelines now???

Wait a second, what about all the other pointless threads in Players' Talk? You make a thread about how some other poster is a jack-off or whatever and that stays, but you put any conversation-starter about movies, TV, music, other aspects of life, etc., those get bounced?

Obviously mods are clueless and play favorites.

Its the only show I have gotten hooked on since "the shield"

I saw the first 2 seasons of Sons of Anarchy...Them missed a couple episodes of season 3, and never watched it again...I have them, but just haven't gotten the urge to catch up.


Just started Walking Dead last night...Watched a few episodes of it...I enjoy it. And the only thing I knew about the show was Zombies and nothing else. There was a few surprising things that happened.

Neither. Dont watch those two because they are nowhere close to classics like the Wire or Breaking Bad. If you want something on that level, start Game of Thrones. Best show on TV right now.

Hahaha, yeah, I've already seen Deadwood; good show. Although I like Timothy Olyphant much better in Justified -- Raylan Givens is awesome!

The subject matter of Californication doesn't really interest me, plus I've never been a David Duchovny fan.

But I'm happy to continue to hear ideas... I know there's tons of great stuff out there.

I've heard this is very good, however not sure the fantasy element is my thing. But maybe. I guess if I was able to buy True Blood, then why not that? I hear the books are great as well.

I'm glad no one's said Mad Men -- I hate that f'n show passionately, total waste of time.

Sons of Anarchy become totally unbelievable and pretty stupid around the end of season 2.

The Walking Dead lost the plot and made the show about the characters instead of the zombies at the beginning of season 2.

Start reading and or watching Game of Thrones. While the show has strayed a bit from the book during season 2 it is still immense. Its up there with The Wire and Sopranos.

I agree game of thrones is great. I watch both walking dead and sons as well. Very entertaining. Don't pick one, watch them both.

If/when I get a wireless router, I may use my blu-ray player to stream stuff from Netflix, but for now I just use the library for the DVDs! Did you guys even know you can get whatever you want for free, you just request it online and it comes in for you! My town is in the Minuteman Library Network, but you probably all have one wherever you are, check it out.

Lot of votes for Game of Thrones. For some reason, I don't find myself motivated to start that one; I generally prefer real-world settings over fantasy worlds, even though, yes, I do watch some stuff with vampires, zombies, or whatnot.

HEY, for those who NEVER SAW IT and have SHOWTIME, I see that Brotherhood is back On Demand -- watch it, that was an AWESOME show! Elements of The Sopranos and The Wire... based roughly on the Bulgers...

Sons of Anarchy seems really boring to me.. i watched a few seasons and it just never really made me want to watch any more.

UPDATE:

Watched both of these. Well, saw Season One of Walking Dead (only six episodes!)... liked it a lot... haven't seen Season 2 yet. About halfway through Season One of Sons of Anarchy... like this one as well. Man, brutal show though. Funny how much it's like the Sopranos except with a Motorcycle Club instead of the mob. Peg Bundy may be the best part of it, she is really good. The main guy is too good-looking and I don't totally buy him, but that's all right.

Season 2 of walking dead was pretty damn good...It may be one of my favorite shows now. But I just like every fukkin show on HBO/Showtime and just started watching Breakout Kings on A&E because of Walking Dead...didn't know decent shows could be on regular tv.

Never watched regular TV due to the lack of swearing/blood...Everyone I know loves the show, but just haven't had the time to watch however many seasons of it...Eventually I will.

Season 3 finale of SOA is some of the best tv I'ver ever seen.

Check out the Spartacus series (3 seasons so far), it came out on Starz some great bloody and gory gladiator violence.
