I'd have to say George Harrison did the best as a solo artist. Works like all things must pass and Living in the Material world are just excellent.

McCartney with Wings was good, but each album, save Band on the Run, has a max of 2 good songs on it the rest being filler.

john Lennon was mostly below par, but his best work was clearly with the plastic ono band and their first release

Ringo is ringo, he had a couple of hits but mostly forgotten

Paul McCartney. George Harrison was good too but the only problem is that his music revolves too much around eastern mysticism. Look up McCartney's hits and you'll be surprised how many great masterpieces came after his Beatles career.

George I am not too familiar with as far as solo goes.
