When I was a kid my parents put stickers on the outer doors: "Premises protected. Neighbourhood watch program in effect".

Was bullshit, the extent of a neighbourhood watch was the nosy lady across the street who had nothing better to do than stare out her window to see what the neighbours are doing, then get on the phone and gossip with other neighbours about what she saw.

Our HOA sends the emails and flyers to come to them...went to a couple of meetings the first year we moved into the area but not since...it's just a few oddballs who try to be an authority figure so I just laughed them off as harmless. If they wanna watch the street, have at it, but I'll take my own home protection measures .
