This guy is an Honorary SBRer - Deposted $95,093.35 junk-mail Check
On May 19th, I was one of thousands of people around the country who received a 'junk mail' letter touting a get-rich quick method for making $95,093.35 in just three weeks. That letter also came with a check for the same amount, $95,093.35. Everything about the check looked real except for the words 'non-negotiable for cash' typed on the top right hand corner.

For very little reason at all I deposited this check into my ATM.

so where did the money come from ? this idiot doing the scheme actually put real bank info on the check?

the funds were taken from somewhere.. did he really put all real routing and bank accounts ? and just put void? seems weird..

After reading the story thats what I still don't get

A scammer wouldn't be dumb enough to write a fake check with their real account numbers would they?

I'm guessing this is a scam itself. I mean why would the guy need to take donations/tips for telling his story? He just got a cool 95k for nothing. And who honestly in their right minds would deposit a check that said non negotiable on it? Just not buying it. If it was true though that would be one of the sickest stories I'd ever heard.

After doing a quick google search this actually might be true. He was in the NY Times even back in 95 when this supposedly happened. Still searching more about it.

Yeah after a little more searching I saw that he did have to come up with the money again for the bank. Though I think it is amazing that this even went into his account. http://www.nytimes.com/1995/10/04/us...20combs&st=cse
