Seriously I hope you guys are right and it's fake. I'd be really disheartened if someone would go through the effort to do this to someone else.

I'm going to go with your theory and just assume it is so I can return to my belief that yeah we're all dicks at times, but essentially most of us are good people deep down.

I would like to rob the banker. Maybe a home invasion. Slap up his wife.

Because one tip, in one restaurant means that a non-existant conflict is still going on. Some dude in a Mercedes cut me off today, is that another volley in the war?

Shari - doesn't this story fit a little too perfectly into the 99% vs. 1% b.s.?

People hate bankers and that's fine, but when bankers choose to be immature, it's not going to be over a lunch bill - especially when that $100 lunch is no doubt on the company dime.

And of course his ID is protected.

Does not pass the sniff test.

I worked in a place that shares a parking lot with where the Orlando Magic train. Needless to say it attracts a certain type. The players themselves were cool but the guys wanting to just bask in the scent of an NBA player tended to be dirty pigs no matter how expensive their suits. It seems the more they paid for a drink, the bigger pervs they became. It's all good... got to go home every fortnight when I really needed to the most at their expense so it served a purpose.
Bike for booty, stationary if unable to in the great outdoors.

My worst tip experience was four middle aged women left me about $2 in mostly pennies and nickels. My supervisor could tell I was upset about it, she told me not to take it personal because those women are regulars and did the same thing to other servers. Some people!

Yeah you're right. And I'd be a hypocrite if I were lashing out at bankers or anyone of the sort so it's not like I'm predisposed to being against them. I just really didn't like how this person came across but it does seem just a bit off. The people fighting in McDonalds I understand more than I did this story, you know what I mean? I just don't think people are that openly cruel. Quietly yeah but man this would be harsh. Then again, maybe it is true and I'm just hoping for the best? Either way, it's nice to know that proper gentleman exist in this thread. Was very nice to see guys step up and say that they do appreciate what others do no matter how much crap we give each other about other things. A job's a job and I'll never bash anyone for having one, regardless of what it is.

Some obnoxious asshole insulted me and left me a 1% tip.

I think I'll create start a blog about it. And keep his identity a secret!

                      Bullsh*t.
To straighten things out, according to the story, it was someone who was with the banker, not the server.

The picture of the receipt was taken and uploaded to the blog Future Ex-Banker by a person who was dining with the anonymous banker. As expected, the blog received a lot of attention and has now been taken down. The author of the blog wrote, "mention the 99% in my boss' presence and feel his wrath. So proudly does he wear his 1% badge of honor that he tips exactly 1% every time he feels the server doesn't sufficiently bow down to his holiness."

Piss poor service equals piss poor tip....I'm all for tipping well but just because you take my order and I don't see you again until you're asking if I am done doesn't mean you're getting 20%

Oh. This is a good point, I didn't catch that.

Still suspicious, but I guess the anonymity is a little more plausible if it's a "whistleblower" and not an angry restaurant staffer.

I went thru dunkin donuts today and there was a printed sticker on the window that said "no tipping allowed"

Wonder if the manager or owner fielded complaints from people driving thru about tip solicitation

Professions that attract type-A, ultra-aggressive people are notorious for this sort of thing. Its not a surprise that people who are aggressive with their money, like bankers, and well, people on this forum, would do such things. Another example is the notorious Scottie "no-tippin" Pippen.

How convenient that the person who attended the lunch with the banker chose to document everything that happened concerning the tip, added a few comments to enrage the 99% vs 1% but REFUSES to anonymously disclose the identity of the banker.

The Occupy Wall Street movements have died down considerably and this story was probably manufactured by some eliteist George Soros type of democrat sponsored by the HuffingtonPost or DailyKos in hopes of re-energizing the OWS movement.

As ByeShea stated, it doesn't pass the smell test.

most of my receipts say $0 for tip because i tip cash. but i bet some waitress (that has to split tips) pocketed the $20 bill and told the other waitress i was cheap.

I wasn't working you miserable excuse for a piece of flesh. When I'm not working, I tend to not overstep those who are. It's called courtesy. Learn some maybe? Or yeah, keep going on a rampage against a random chick on the Internet. I pity you but I'll still keep you in mind if I ever need to know how the Kardashians are doing. At least you're good for the girly gossip if not anything sportsbook or gambling related.

What about places that demand tips?

I remember one time a group about 30 of us went out to eat at a decent Mexican place, and they made an effort at the restaurant to rearrange tables for us to sit at. Well we ate and as we were finishing we were discussing the tip and decided on 50$ seemed fair since the restaurant was fairly slow and the service wasn't great. So they bring the bill and on it was a 35% gratuity added to the bill, so one of the hot heads of the group called some one over and let them have it. The manager brings over a tiny sign by the register that read "all groups of 10 or more are charge a gratuity" or some bs like that. So we ended up leaving the exact amount ( i think it was like ~$322 and we left $320) and walked out.

What do you guys think? is it okay for a restaurant to automatically add ~$110 to our bill.

If they really made a problem with you guys after that that is a very good way for that business to lose a lot of customers.

I don't like how some hotels/delivery places will automatically add like $10.00 tip to the waiter/driver and not tell you... then you end up double tipping.

The problem with most people is they take up useless causes against ignorant people. who cares what he does?! We should all worry about living our own lives to the fullest extent we can. I couldn't care less what anyone does unless it has a trickle down effect on MY life!! If you are worried about, or think the grass is greener on the other side of the fence.........maybe you need to fertilize your own yard.
