Never understood it, what the hell do people rub charcoal from their backyard BBQ on their forehead for?

all it represents 40 days from ash wednesday,to in my opinion only the most important event of all time ,Christ on the cross.Ash wednesday is the begginning and is only to remind us from dust we came to dust we return. after we die the body slowly rots and disinigrates into dust. The black ashes come from the palms when they are burnt. A sign of the cross is then put on their foreheads. The forty days are meant for prayer and to fast. when people fast they tend to pray and create an inner peace.Instead the people you saw with the ashes were all over 70 instead of giving up certain temptations they are at casinos gambling showing off what good christians they are not. Simular to when Christ threw all the people out of the area where they were to meet to pray, they were selling goods and also gambling. See a tie in?

i am not catholic but i dont find it weird. i seen lots of other people do even crazier stuff. these people were ash on the foreheads for a day to represent what they believe in... lots of people who put stupid looking tattoo keep those forever

Lot's of strange rituals with religion. I've always found this one funny but honestly it's nothing compared to some of the things people do.

alot of this stuff goes back 2000 years of course its weird ,the mormans are a much newer religon and really are strange i.m.o., don't want to put down anyones religons.
