Im pretty sure its a cervical lymph node. Have you had a cold or a toothache lately?

The body is full of lymph nodes (which can inflame) which often indicate some sort of infection/spread of infection. Normally nothing but always good to get it checked out. I'm sure your fine.

There we go. Lymph node should not be so prominent in a week or so. If you're really worried, get it checked but if its still there in a week. hit up the doc

I had a weird small lump a while ago, which I feared was cancer. I got it checked out, and it was totally harmless - what is known as a sebaceous cyst. People get weird lumps all the time, most of which are nothing. I would get it checked out, just to be on the safe side (not to mention just so you stop worrying about it). But yeah, most likely something completely harmless.

red sox, sure if it doesn't go away in a week or two , but thats a pretty simple prognosis. I just noticed your 23 . Listen your going to have dozens of things that happen as you age, don't get yourself all worked up with cancer diagnosis .Cancer is still very rare especially if your a 23 year old male. If you keep that up your going to have alot of sleepless nights. I guarantee your fine , but like everyone is telling you if it doesn't go away within a few weeks have it checked you red sox fans are all alike lol

Dude no worries. I have this same thing on the right side of my neck .BBR is absolutely correct it sounds like it's just an inflammed lymph node. You have about 16-20 of these throughout your body....under your armpits, on the sides of your neck....etc.

I had the same issue as you did and have had one on the right side of my neck sort of protruding for the last 10 year now. Basically, if you have health insurance and can afford to go see a doctor bring it up with him. What he will do is take your blood work, weight, blood pressure...etc. Then he will recommend a hospital or doctor to your to take a sonagram. (It the machine that pregnant mothers uses to see their baby inside their tummies) They will take pictures of the thing inside your body and send the images back to your physician.

After that if it's not cancerous or malignant (which it doesn't sound like it) he will recommend you see a specialist who will do a biopsy (they will take a small sample tissue from the lymph node out of your neck using a microscopic needle) then analyze the tissue sample at a lab.

Results of why it is protruding from your neck for however long a period of time will then be found and your doctor and give you a cure (if even needed).

I am gonna get my biopsy done in about three weeks once my other medical claims clear. Basically if you have had this for a long period of time and have felt normal then it's probably nothing too major. If you just starting feeling this and notice it getting larger when the weather is either colder or you are feeling sicker then it is definitely just an inflammed lymph node. They basically are fighting whatever it it that is trying to make you sick and are thus inflammed.

Go see a doctor man....most likely he'll want to know what it is that is causing the inflammation rather than it being inflammed to begin with. Once he can give you medicine for that then the enlarged lymph node will go back down to normal size.

I (a paramedic) agree about the lymph node inflammation.

I'd only jump to cancer if you dip like crazy and even then it would be a little low for oral cancer I think...go to the doctor bro!

I have the same lump as you. Mine is right on my jaw bone almost under my ear. I've had mine for like 4 years though, and nothing bad as happened yet lol.
