My English Bulldog died last night
Feeling very depressed. He was 11, which is extremely long for a bulldog. Bums me out though, been through a major relationship change, a marraige and a baby during his life. Have great pictures of him with my older kids when they were young.

It really sucks that we get so close to an animal that will only be there a short time in the scope of everything.

That dog had a good life and didnt miss any meals by the looks of it. I've been through a couple of 10+ great dogs and still think about them. I got a labradoodle about 3 years ago. Another great dog. It's early but my advice is honor him with a puppy that will remind you of your ole buddy.

I am sure we will. My kids were at their moms last night and don't know yet. They are over here this weekend and I have to get through telling them.

Its hard, I am a basketcase right now, hope I get myself together for telling them later after school.

I also lost a pet of 11 years 2 weeks ago, leaves a wound on your soul.

Your dog is in the heaven waiting line, probably getting a few treats from Gary Carter.

Thanks guys. I don't know if its early and the crazies are still in bed, but you guys are class. I have been through a lot with the cancer scare and my surgery, this site believe it or not is another great distraction.

I really do appreciate the words.

                      Thanks

ive lost about 10 pets in past 10 years (illness, hit by cars, owls, coyotes, dissapearances) and getting a new pet has always helped. i mean u never really get over losing them but it does help.

4 months ago I would've rolled my eyes....but I got my first ever dog this past December. He's a huuuuge 100 pound lab.

I've always disliked dogs, but got one because the wife and kids wanted one. We rescued him from the shelter.

Since he's come home, he's completely become MY dog. Sits at my feet all night, goes on walks with me. Happier than hell to see me everyday.

I would've thought you were nuts, but I understand now. Sorry man. He looks like you took great care of him. Hang in there.

I am sorry to hear about your chow chow. I have been really enjoying him being here especially after he turned 10. Average lifespan for these dogs is 9, so we have been lucky.

Tomorrow is never guaranteed, so enjoy each day with your dog.

Sorry for your loss. We certainly do get attached to them. Mine lived to 15, through all the shit in my life he was there everyday wagging his tail at the door when I came home. He was bought as a gift for a girl I thought I was going to marry. Her life changed and she didn't have room for either of us in it. Heartbroken when he died.

Hard to understand till you get a "pet" yourself that really bonds with you.

A year ago I would have said the same thing but sometimes it's like losing a family member.

What a neat looking dog... love the all white coat. RIP Dukester. Of course it will be tough on the kids, but it will also make them stronger as time passes.

Really sorry to hear that. Animals become part of the family, always terrible when they die.
Get a new dog in a month or two when you're ready?

know how tough that is, my cat who i got when i was undergoing cancer treatment died during the summer. he was only four years old and just got really sick.
sometimes it feels harder to lose a pet then a person.
