Almost 20 years and that is CANADA'S sport.

Yes, but the New York Giants were the ones who were declared the world champions, not team USA. It's the same in the NBA, where the winner there is declared the world champions, even though basketball is played all over the world, and very competitively in certain parts of Europe.

Is there a team outside the US that could beat any NFL team? I think we can say no with confidence.
Is there a team outside the US that could beat any NBA team? Debatable but the NBA is by far the strongest/deepest league in the world.

There are other many other sports which have minuscule participation in a global sense. They have genuine world champions in the sense that anyone is free to compete/enter but in reality there is very narrow interest. Is being the World Champion in floorball more noteworthy that the NFL champions?

Yes the Super Bowl Champs are the World Champs in their sport. Just like the NBA champs are. And the melting pot who wins the World Series and NHL. Everyone in the world tries to become a part of those leagues...people don't grow up wanting to play for the CFL or AFL. It's the NFL. People don't grow up wanting to play for the Aussie basketball league or the Euro teams... they want to play NBA. Same with baseball and hockey.

Those are the world teams regardless of where they're based. The best of the best... it's 2012 - if you're good enough, even if you're living in a hut in Zimbabwe, you'll get discovered.
