Ever win the lottery? Ever win a decent amount on a scratch off?
SteveRyan's (finding money) thread got me thinking, yeah it's always lucky when you find a nice wad of cash laying around, but how many people here have played the lottery? or scratched a few lottery tickets? I'm sure we all have. So how much is the most you've won playing the lottery? And/Or how much have you won on a scratch off ticket?

For me, scratching lottery tickets is a daily thing. Usually I drop about $20-40 a day on instants. It's just something to do after a day of work. But the funny thing is, first day I got my job I decided to celebrate by buying some lotto tickets. I bought a few random 5 dollar or less tickets then I got a $10 ticket. Little did I know the $10 ticket that I got was a $300 winner.

On the other hand, playing the actual lottery is also fun for me. Me and my dad have some sort of gambling obsession, for some reason I've loved betting and gambling since I was about three years old. My dad has always played my birthday for the lottery, no idea why considering he has three other kids but hell, he hit the lotto with my birthday for numbers. He cashed in at 10,000 on a Ohio Lottery ticket. Me on the other hand one upped him. I hit it big and won $175000 , best day of my life. Been partying ever since.

I've only seen one person win a lottery ticket. It was my dad back in 1984 for $50.

If we had scratch tickets in Vegas I would probably play constantly.

$175K pre-tax is not nearly enough to be 'partying ever since'. do you have a job?

Yes, I'm a very hard working man, and after it was around 120k after taxes and I was just kidding around about the partying. I bought a car, helped my parents pay off their house, paid for my college and put the rest in the bank

Hit $100 a couple times on scratch-offs. Nothing major. My parents hit $1000 one time on the lottery.

Not bad, I hit $50 on a $2 ticket once, the odds are smaller on lower tickets but I seem to win more on those all the time

I won 150. Got 4/5 numbers. Had I gotten one more number. or gotten the powerball correct. I could have taken off work for a few years

lol that's the worse feeling. If I hit the power ball, I would have had 33 million. I am so bad, that I didn't have that last number. Life will go on, and the winnings I got still made a HUGE difference to me

You got all 5 numbers correct but missed the powerball? That feeling has to be rough. Did you get the numbers randomly generated? Or do you have your own you choose every drawing?

$3819 picking 5 of 6 numbers in the California lottery in 1991. $160 million was the jackpot when I hit the 5 of 6. One number away from being rich.

Haven't been remotely close ever since.
