Anyone else catch a virus from First Row Sports?
This is literally the only "risky" site I visit on a regular basis.

Caught a virus a few weeks ago that popped up a fake "Windows System Recovery" window that wanted to charge me $69.99 to run a full scan on my system....fortunately my B.S. meter went off before pulling out my CC.

Ran a system restore to an earlier point and continued using this site and it happened again.

Today, I boot up my computer and Windows won't even start....had to F4 and run a full System Reformat back to the date I purchased the computer. Fortunately everything important is backed up.

I can't see what could have caused this aside from a virus through firstrowsports.tv. I don't surf porn sites or anything else that would be considered risky.

If so, it's a shame...where else can you catch a feed of a two last place teams in the Big West conference?

Good to know, I didn't realize my full anti-virus protection had lapsed, just renewed today so hopefully this should take care of things.

I also got that exact virus about a year ago. Let me tell you it was suchhhh a bitch. I had to have a computer friend come over to take care of it. I never seen a virus as bad as that one. I knew right away it was some bullshit virus though and not really something I needed to pay for. I didnt get it from that though, I think I got it from some game or something on facebook that my wife and daughter played. Only thing I thought it could have been from but I wasnt positive.

i never had a problem there, i dont have any protection either. you gotta wait until the time is up before you click any buttons, if it opens another page or try to download anything, get out of it quick. go to full screen and no ads pop up.

Possibly...I always close out of the pop-up that covers the screen immediately and I've accidentally opened up other pop-ups on that site trying to close out of them.

So, is it like jeffdane says, and I need to either wait for these pop-ups to go away on their own without clicking them, or go in to full-screen and avoid them completely?

I tried to give you points, jeffdane, but it wouldn't allow me. I guess non-pros are only allowed to give out 2 points total per day.

Install adblocker plus as an add-on to your browser. Helps a lot with this sort of thing.

no need for points, like i said, i have no virus protection and never had a problem. initially wait and then go full screen if you want to watch the game, you dont need to go full screen to avoid virus, it just makes the viewing experience ad free. load the game and dont click anything and you shouldnt get a virus, i havent anyway.

Thanks a bunch, FourLengthsClear and jeffdane.

I will take your advice on this. Their malware installed one of the nastiest series of viruses I have ever seen in my 15 years of internet use.

Yes, I did and I took it to the shop after using a backup Dell for months cuz I didn't want to get raped by a tech.. but I had to get my sh*t cleaned up. I know it was firstrowsports, and I got it on my labtop too. The tech told me this virus is really bad, but there are worst out there.. and that I got it by clicking or accepting something. The only thing I could think of was firstrowpopups... yep they cost me a couple hundred bucks and a whole lot of hassle. Should of just bought that sports package. Rofl

I was using window essentials. I'm not sure how good that program is. Must not be too good

i buy cheap laptops, get them when they are on sale. if i need to get another i will, black friday, cyber monday, other random deals. never pay more than 300 for a laptop and never needed another one in under 2 years. i have no problem paying 300 bucks every 2 or 3 years for a new laptop, its like 10/month. nothing special of course but better than i need.

I'm using McAfee but like I said, my full coverage lapsed months ago and I got lazy and never renewed. Well, after having to do a full system reformat I just renewed and installed Ad Block Plus per FourLengths' suggestion.

I'm going to try firstrowsports again...see what happens, at this point having to reformat again won't be a big deal.

You guys are crazy if you use firstrow! That site is rig to do exactly what happened to lite1up! And sorry Jeff, but it doesn't matter if you're at full screen or not. You can get the virus just by opening up the link. It's called a driveby and yes it's some nasty shit! You think you're getting to watch a game in full screen without this shit runing in the background and installing nasty malware and changing your registry settings? Think again my friend.

At the very least I would make sure you have malware and spyware protection on your system. You cant get these for free, but I would buy the paid versions because they offer real time protection. Because if a key logger or some other wicked shit gets into you system and accesses your account passwords, you're gonna be really fuk'ed!

Here's a geat anti virus program too. Again there is a free version, but the paid one has a lot more features and real time updates. It beats paying an IT tech $300 to clean your system!

I went to firstrowsports all the time for football games, I use firefox with adblock plus and flashblock, never had a problem with the site. And I occasionally run my malwarebytes software and MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials) which is a free antivirus scanner but works great.

Yeah, I've got virus and trojan attacks several times from surfing, especially from firstrow.tv. I usually use malwarebytes in the safe mode to remove those virus and trojans. Also, you should use anti-virus, I'm using the free one "Avast! Antivirus"
