Google Steve Raichlen. Pick up his bible. All you ever need to know.

I would look into taking a class
the top bbq guys do have them
I am sure they don't divulge any secrets but would give you a good start but who knows how much it costs

I have his book and its been great during the summer. In a lot of his instructional videos he uses this weber grill. It's a great buy and it allows you to do it all. I picked mine up two summers ago and have been able to put it to good use. I have bbq and smoked everything from pizzas to a brisket on it.

RubberKettle is correct. Raichlen's BBQ Bible will give enough material for years. I still refer to it and I have been grilling and smoking for almost 20 years.

Learned everything I need to know about BBQ from youtube. I never knew how good corn on the cob could be on the bbq.

Born and raised in Texas, so most of what I know was learned from family, friends, neighbors etc, but yeah gotta agree Steve Raichlen is really good. He'll give you all the basic as well as the most advanced and exotic techniques.
