Welfare isn't the only problem, it's other entitlements as well such as EIC checks, healthcare, childcare, etc. Each child born into poverty costs the taxpayer a fortune by the time they reach adulthood, and many times continues to cost society.

Well that's the thing its an exponentially increasing problem, its not like these welfare mothers see the way they are living as a problem in fact they instill their ****** up values into their kids to become giant welfare cases as well. Hell when the government basically says if you want more money just have more kids can you really blame them? But see, that's the thing. People can support their children. Jobs are available. They may not be a job you want to do, but they are available, everywhere.

How is that a little 3rd world country like Costa Rica has it figured out, but the States doesn't? There's no unemployment or welfare benefits in Costa Rica. We do have the equivalent of Social Security and Worker's Comp, and all health care including prescriptions) are paid for with taxes. You go to the hospital, you show your ID, you get treated.

I stand by what I said. You don't work, you don't eat. Just about everybody can work. If you're disabled and physically can't work, then Costa Rica will give you enough money to live on every month. If you say that you can't find a job, oh well. If you say that you're hungry and you just need a little help, sorry, better get your ass out in the coffee fields or get to cleaning houses. There are always jobs available.

At the very least for welfare reform, why doesn't the government put the recipients to work? You want to get your welfare check, food stamps, whatever, fine, go pick up trash for 8 hours along side the highway. Cut some grass, paint curbs, etc. There's always jobs. People just have this entitlement mentality that they're too good to work, and they "need to get theirs".

Look unemployment in this country is like 300/week, now the problem is these ppl could be working at a job 40 hours a week for 8 bucks an hour like McDs and make 300/week but why would they work when they can get it for 99 weeks (99 weeks!!! omg wtf??? ) for nothing

Once again this is a situation where you cant even blame the individual, you have to blame the govt program, I mean who would work for the same pay as they get for not working...literally no one. And 99 weeks are you fuckin kidding me? If you cant find a high paying job in 6 months you just need to bite the bullet and get a shit job until you can. If you're unemployed and have been hitting the bong for 6 months hoping Microsoft calls with a 6 figure job I know its tough but get off your ass and work a shit job in the meantime

And you're right. If you knew it was easy as going down to the local government office, filling out some forms and collecting a check every 2 weeks for doing nothing, why would you get off your ass to actually go work? I guess there's no pride anymore in a hard day's pay.

Take my father-in-law, for instance. His parents had 12 children, and lived in a small house. His mom stayed at home and took care of the young kids, while everybody else went and picked coffee. They survived. They lived within their means. It almost seems to be a foreign concept this days.
