Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band is a hell of an album. Whether you're white, black, green, blue----that album is very good.

And like other great artists, it captures a culture perfectly----like Nirvana did with Nevermind. You don't have to like the Beatles to appreciate and respect what they pulled off with SPLHCB. That was just a great album.

The beatles were legendary song writers and cultural icons. I know for a fact other races like the beatles. Also, not all white people care for the beatles. I am black and I love all kinds of music expect country. As someone that has heard A LOT of music....I find it odd that I have not listened to The Beatles entire catalog. My parents as you can imagine played old school R&B/Soul around the house. I can tell you this though...the songs I heard from the Beatles are pretty damn good. One reason that they are so popular is because of the baby boomers (born the decade following WWII). The Beatles and Rolling Stones were the biggest rock bands when these people were young adults. When they had kids, they continued playing the music around them, hence the reason for the continued popularity.

Pro athletes earn millions using their bodies and can afford to eat the best food in the world, and what do many of them choose? Mcdonalds, popeyes, frozen freezer foods, and soda. Skittles, during a game for crying out lout.

One can make an argument for the merits of the beatles as musicians, but their popularity stems more from social conditioning than anything else. Most (white) people are taught to like the beatles. Just like we're taught to appreciate muscle cars and gourmet coffee.

I used to think the same thing when I was a kid, before I dove in and swam around in their music. It ain't easy making vocals and harmonys sound that simple.

Ringo got pissed one day and left, so Paul jumped on the drums for 'Dear Prudence', check out the drumming after 2:50 or so. Not too fuking bad for a left handed bass player.
