Black Friday Question

alright, here's the deal - I kinda want to buy a few videogames (the new batman game, the new WWE game and madden 2012) - and I've seen some fantastic deals at different stores (gamestop, target and walmart).



I've never shopped on black friday though, so how does it work??? Can I wake up in the morning around 9 and go buy the games at that advertised price with no lines?? Do most stores sell out all their stuff on sale soon after midnight??

Last year I went out late (like 4am instead of days early) and bought a ton of games at Walmart. There was a buy 1, get 1 for $5 deal.

I also picked up a portable harddrive and a couple other majorly discounted things. Since you're not looking for the doorbusters, you don't have to be there too early.

9am will probably be just as crazy though.

I might try going to Best Buy this year around 7PM Thursday and getting some stuff.

You'll still be able to get the deals Friday morning, but there will be long(er?) lines.

A lot of people have the impression that 'everyone' who is going to go out does so for the midnight openings, and then the lines end up long in the morning too.

Personally, I would go around 4am like I did last year. The early campers were gone, and the other people weren't up yet. In and out fast.

Agreed. I only spent about an hour last year though, and saved over $500.

I mentioned in another thread that I have a friend that goes out on Tuesday night and starts camping at Best Buy. He usually makes $2500-$3000 by reselling stuff.

It can definitely be worth it if you know what you want and time it right. The cold doesn't bother me, so I am probably missing out by not getting there a lot earlier.

I know it sounds lame... but WalMart is your best bet. The deals start at 10PM on Thanksgiving.... and they are open 24 hours. I would hit a Walmart for the games you are looking for. You don't have to wait until 6AM for stores to open up.

Yep...Went once when I was 21 and bought a 42" plasma @ 4 in the afternoon, I got lucky that had 1 left in the backroom.

Will never go again, not worth it when you can normally find those cheap prices year round on Slickdeals.
