How do I get $5000 in a month
    Hey guys,

My Dad just offered to sell me his 2007 Chrysler Sebring for $5000. He's giving me a hell of a deal, it's gotta be worth $10000-$12000. Parents have helped my sister out big time with money over the years so I guess they're just trying to keep things even, as I have not needed finacial help in the last 5 years since finishing school.

So here's my current financial situation.
I finished school 4 years ago with $15000 of debt, $10k on a CC and $5k on a line of credit.
Currently I owe $8k on my CC, and $2k on my line.
My chequing account is over drawn $1500 with a $2500 limit.
My CC has been expired for 3 years and I don't have another one.

I make $20 an hour as an electrician which works out to $600 a week after the government takes their well deserved share.

Between rent, insurance, cable/internet, food, entertainment, everything else, I barely save any $ and basically live paycheck to paycheck.

I currently have $600 on my Pinnacle account, started this season with a deposit of $130 (I only bet NCAA FB/BB, a little NFL)

I really doubt a bank will approve me for another $5-7k loan to buy the car, and I don't have anyone to co-sign (I don't want a co-signer either). Any bankers here to confirm this???

I could probably get $1-1.5k for my current car.

I have an appointment with the bank this week to see what they can do but I'm not expecting much.

I'm not asking any posters for the $5k here, just need some advice or idea's on how to get this $.

Dad doesn't know about my cc debt and I'm in no hurry to tell him about it.

If not for that then I'm sure I could get a bank loan, and I'm sure that's what he is thinking too. He only knows about my loc because he co-signed for it.

The cc kept me drunk and fed during college. Thought I would have it paid off by now!

Get the car form your parents and tell them you will make a monthly payments directly to your parents with interest and may be no interest. No bank is needed (just you and your parents).

          Bad money management.

I would not even think about buying anything if I were in Debt. I realize most College graduate's are in deep debt, but I don't know many of them going out and getting in even more.

Take care of your debts then worry about buying something you don't need...Otherwise you're just getting the ball rolling, next thing you know, you'll be fukked.

But if you MUST have this car, drop your old piece of shit for whatever you can get for it, tell your dad that you'd rather not take a loan out and be paying interest on that, and you'd rather just work out a plan to pay him 100 a month or whatever.

I appreciate the advise but that is a broad assumption about my $ management. Most college grads would kill to graduate with only 15k debt.

Problem is my current car is going to need work soon, probably over $1000 worth of work. Car is a need for me, not a want. No car=No job, No job=homeless, no thank you.

I even wrote I realize most college kids are in debt....But going out and getting in more is BAD MONEY MANAGEMENT.

But you also failed to mention that your car is a junker and you NEED a new car. Which now changes the circumstances. Kinda like at the bottom when I said, here I'll quote it again for you PAL....."But if you MUST have this car, drop your old piece of shit for whatever you can get for it, tell your dad that you'd rather not take a loan out and be paying interest on that, and you'd rather just work out a plan to pay him 100 a month or whatever."

It looks to me that you are financially in debt. Based on your information you can file for chapter 7 Bankruptcy to discharge your CC debt and the overdraft fee's on the bank account. Since you will be filing you will no longer make any payments to the those ************ and now start saving. You will receive discharge of the debt within 3-4 months depending on which district you live in. It is not a quick resolution and will not immediately give you the 5000.00 but it will at least give you a fresh start.

So you're not looking for any advice at all....You just want us to all feel sorry for you and ask "where do we sign up to donate to this broke fukk"

As you can tell from my first response, which you read, I was trying to give you a good option/advice on asking your dad to just take payments from you...I Would assume he has that piece of shit Sebring paid off, so it wouldn't hurt him in any way to just take a payment from you.

But hey, You're the one in debt looking for money, not Me. So go ahead and keep doing thing your ways, and not listening when someone tries to help.

Do people declare bankruptcy over 10k of debt??? I thought that was for serious debt.

The answer is already posted. Do an 8 team parlay and whistle all the way to the dealership.

that rebuttal was disappointing!!! I expected better.... if you insist on a pissing match let's at least adhere to online message board etiquette and keep it offensive or funny and not let it get personal, geez.

Your use of vulgarity and caps locks suggest you've let it get personal. And since the above post is neither funny nor offensive, and I was the one who brought up animal cruelty, I will have to insist you try again.

well your first mistake was putting student loans on a CC. they have specific loans for that.

yeah, tha'ts what my loc was for, it was a student loc. I didn't qualify for any other student loans because my parents make too much money. But my parents wouldn't help me out either because they wanted to teach me the value of a dollar, which I was fine with, I finished high school with plenty of $....lesson learned!!!

                                                        it's their 3rd car...geez

it was for my younger siblings to use when they were additional drivers on my parents insurance during their high school years. Now they're away at college so the car just sits there. My parents aren't the type to just give us a car, or house down payment, or what have you.

CRJfan....put everything you have left in your betting account on the England Championship soccer game today between Southampton and West Ham, bet on the OVER 2.5 goals...you will at least add to your bankroll by 70% of whatever it is currently, and that will help you jump off from there to make that extra cash you need my friend. No joke, this game has 3-5 goals in it...easy. BOL!

First thing you should do is to get rid of your CC debt. That interest is too much and you'll be paying it for a long time. Work a deal with your parents ... if they're willing to sell you a 12000$ car for 5000$, sell that car and use the difference to pay your debts. Don't hide it from them, you'll be better off.
