    Best affordable laptop these days?
    Guys,

What is a very good reliable laptop on the market these days. Would like to stay at or around 500-600 bills. I know much better can be had for more, but I'm also getting the ipad2 and don't want to spend much more.

What brands or specific computers to you guys suggest?

    Thanks,
    Wv

I bought a refurb dell vostro 3500 about a year ago and I beat the hell out of it for work and play... take it everywhere. It cost me $400, it's fast, simple and does everything you need it to. Also has a backlit keyboard and built in camera.

If you're getting an Ipad as well you should get something like this:

                Lenovo G770 1037-2WU Laptop Computer - Intel Core i3-2330M 2.20GHz, 4GB DDR3, 500GB HDD, DVDRW, 17.3" Display, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, Brown

                ASUS A72F-X1 Laptop Computer - Intel Core i3-370M 2.4GHz, 4GB DDR3, 320GB HDD, Blu-Ray/DVDRW, 17.3" Display, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

$600 not going to get you a great laptop with a big screen, but I figure you can leave this stationary and use the ipad around the house or when watching tv.

Macbook pro is thing out there for a student if you have the $

Ipad's have no keyboards so doing actual work on them is rather tedious.

                          Amazon.

                          Asus.

15.6" screen, decent specs and HDMI

329 bucks no tax/free shipping. Browses the internet fine and hook it up to TV to stream NFL games.

That's all I use it for.

You can get a decent Toshiba with a big screen, and decent specs at Best Buy for about 300 bucks. Not sure what you intend to use it for, but if it's just for personal use you can't beat it. They last forever too.

The Toshiba's on best buy have been what's grabbed my attention so far. The 350 price tag just makes me a little nervous.

Mainly want for basic browsing and personal usage, nothing needed for work or too difficult of tasks.

The Price tag shouldn't worry you a bit then. You don't need to spend 500-600 for a Laptop just used for the internet.

Bought that a few weeks ago strictly for the Internet and HDMI. Thing works fine, and best thing about it is, no tax and free shipping.

Go with the Toshiba my man. I've purchased a few of them in the past for myself, and family. Not a single complaint. They look nice and do everything you need them to do. Upgrading the speed is always an option and is very easy to do. Just don't fall for that sucker warranty bullshit that they offer. I can't believe some people actually pay $150 dollars for warranty on a $300 laptop . You won't have any issues with it.
