Its disgusting really. A few years ago a small but loud group of people went nuts when anyone would criticize the last President. They would question your patriotism, call you a terrorist, say you don't support the troops. Now, these same exact people are saying things terrible things about the President of the United States. Actually, you do realize that people have been mugging people forever correct? This whole thing is the media praying on peoples fears. If you look throughout history, adults have always called the next generation "more violent" or "out of control". White people mug people. There is a ton of crime committed by Caucasians (I am one, edit:Not a criminal
). This is taught in Social Studies 101. Its not our fault you are too stupid to understand basic grade school stuff. They start teaching about why discrimination is wrong in kindergarten.
White people commit crimes as do minority. Just like anything in like, POS exist in every group as do good people. Its the small group of POS people that ruin it for everybody else.
This thread is an example of why some hockey fans ruin the entire image of our sport. Hockey is mocked as being racist, and things like this just reinforce it.

Every sport has its racial undertones. It is not just hockey. I grew up in D.C. playing street basketball. I am white, but i got alot of crap from non white players who did not know me. People were insulted if i blocked their shot, every defensive play i made was a foul, every shot i took was right after i "Travled". People did not want to get beat by a white kid on the court. It was so bad sometimes my friends told me not to play certain days cause we would be playing "A group of folks that dont like white people". I figured it was their loss. i never let it get to me.
Hockey is a predominately white sport because thats how pop culture perceives it. If Ludacris came out with a song about playing hockey, then more black kids would play. I know a million people think they make their own decisions, but subconsciousness we are influenced by our perception of things as illustrated by pop culture.Comment -

It is really sad, two wrongs do not make a right though. I have seen some people suggest Simmonds getting a "Free Pass". It doesn't work that way.
The Ludacris thing is wrong, part of what keeps lots of people playing hockey is the expense. Think about it basketball and soccer just need a ball. I do get your point and for the record, I grew up playing hockey. I live in Northern Illinois, we have "hockey culture" up here and I was part of it. This isn't the first racial incident, we have had several in the last few years.

The other side of that is i dont see to many black kids soccer in the U.S. Alot of my friends could have afforded hockey equipment if they wanted too. They werent rich by any means, but they always had really expensive name brand clothes, jewlery, xboxs, nice bikes .... they had expensive items, their parents could afford the equipment if they wanted it. We played street ball and we would do 4 or 5 tournaments a summer and each one was like 60-75 bucks per person to join. Granted, some people cant afford that, there is poverty in all races.Comment -

The US has produced many excellent African American soccer players. I played with some in AYSO. You are going to see less of them because they make up less of the US population. Hockey is a very expensive sport, especially for children. It is also nowhere near as popular in the US. That is why most of the minority players are coming from Canada. the hockey thing really isnt an issue. There will always be bad people, and it is impossible to stop them all.
