If you buy one online I believe it's takes about a week or sooner however, don't quote me on that.

you can get one rushed (1 day to 2 weeks) but you have to be leaving the country in 2 weeks or less.(from department of state) They're companies out there that can get you a passport quickly, but you're going to pay a lot.

got mine in 2010 from post office----about 14-16 days---did not pay $100. extra to expidate.

if you live near a major city, you can go to the regional passport office and pick it up yourself. you'd have to take them a passport-compatible picture, the money, a couple forms of ID i think.

but you can get it the same week.

if you wait for it by mail, it'll take probably a minimum of 2 weeks still rushed.

if you do it this way, you can make an appointment for wednesday and pick it up on friday if youre flying out monday. it doesnt cost any more than the regular rush fee.

Got my daughter a passport in Dallas last year SAME-DAY! Simply went to a approved rush passport office (you can find which offices qualify online), waited a few hours, and walked out with it. We stopped by Costco on the way to get her 2 passport photos. Had to wait a few hours, but all in all not too bad. Can't remember what it cost, but I think it was only an extra $100 or so.

You can do it through the mail, 3-5 business days for about $150 extra + express mail, pictures, etc.
