USENET: NewsgroupDirect Awesome Block Deal: 1TB for $50, ends 6/7 at midnight
Newsgroupdirect ran this promo last time on May 10th and are doing it again. Here is a link to the thread from slickdeals the last time they did it:

Your search for great deals and coupon savings ends here. Find the best bargains and money-saving offers, discounts, promo codes, freebies and price comparisons from the trusted Slickdeals community.

Really awesome deal for those that are not super heavy downloaders that don't need an unlimited plan. No site can beat this price, Astraweb charges $25 for 180GB and blocknews charges like $90 for 1TB. Link below for the deal.

For those that already know about Usenet you can ignore the following:-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Once you figure out Usenet, you'll probably never go back to torrents, I only use torrents now for the occasional hard to find thing.

Here are all the links for the Usenet guides I found helpful when I wanted to learn about it. Read through them all and you should have a good grasp of how it works and everything. If you need help to get started or can't figure something out just post a reply in this thread or PM me.

    Guides:

Usenet is a wonderful service for finding and downloading digital media, giving you speed and reliability you won't find with other file-sharing optio

So you've built a nifty file server running Linux after following your favorite blogger's series of DIY 200 Dollar PC articles (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3). Now what? Wouldn't it be nice if you could turn that server into a speedy downloading machine? Take this scenario as an example: It's 8pm and you

Other websites that you should browse around:

Discover the Best Usenet Service Providers for 2025 ranked by UsenetReviewz.com. Learn which provider is the best and which providers need to improve.

Compare over 150 newsgroup providers, newsreaders, and ISP's offering Usenet access. Full page reviews, free news server trials and discounts.

To get started, the first thing I would do is go download the free clients Sabnzbd and Binreader and see which one you like. Both are Usenet clients, just like utorrent is to bittorent or jdownloader/IDM is to the file uploading sites like Rapidshare/Filesonic/etc. Binreader is extremely simplistic but it works decently (great for noobs), Sabnzbd is more complicated but it's better. Some people don't care for it though because the only way to access it is through the web, since it is a Python server. Play around with both and read the wiki manual for Sabnzbd so you understand how it works. I forgot to mention that Binreader doesn't work with SSL for newsgroupdirect so instead of Binreader try Unzbin for a super easy to use NZB downloader if you don't like Sabnzbd.

Next, you should create accounts on nzbmatrix and nzbsrus. For free accounts they limit the number of nzb's you can download per day and the retention time but you can still download fine. If you like usenet it is worth paying the $10 or so fee to become a VIP member for nzbmatrix that way there are no restrictions, that is what I did and nzbmatrix is the only site I use.

Next, you need to find a usenet provider. The above deal is great for a first time starter since you only have to pay $50 and you can download 1TB of whatever. If you're a really heavy downloader then I would suggest the unlimited $10 a month Astraweb plan or the $10 a month usenetserver plan. I've read several postings in forums where people that have usenetserver as their provider say they split the plan with a friend so it comes out to $5 a month per person. Most providers do not allow 2 IP's to be connected at the same time from the same account, but apparently usenetserver is relaxed. If I decided to go with an unlimited plan it would probably be usenetserver.

To get those $10 a month unlimited plans go here:

UseNetServer unlimited Usenet access, 20 connections, global search and SSL from just $7.95 a month with free VPN. No coupon code required.

Can somebody that buys this deal tell me what it shows for your usage stats in your account settings?

        Thanks.

Yeah, pretty good deal. Especially since newsgroupdirect is a Highwinds reseller which most of the usenet providers resell.
