Oh happy day. An increasing diva-like Michael Cera has reportedly agreed to do the Arrested Development movie. Sources tell E! that Mitchell Hurwitz is writing the script and Ron Howard will direct for Fox Searchlight.
This follows optimistic news from the Oscars, where Howard told Ryan Seacrest, "It's looking very much like we're going to make [the movie], but we've now been asked to stop offering any details. It's cloaked in a little mystery, but it's looking good."
Cera was allegedly that last holdout amongst the cast, with Jason Bateman, Portia de Rossi, Will Arnett, Tony Hale, Jessica Walter, Jeffrey Tambor, and David Cross reportedly already having agreed to do the flick.

yeah I found that and a few other similar bits albeit as you say quite dated ...

the hurwitz/arnett concept being the holdup doesnt make sense, or it shows that someone was lying about a script being ready for initial work and everyone being ready/willing to sign on the dotted line

I'm not going to argue with you there. The commercials were horrible. One of many reasons this show failed. The show is 1000x better than the dumb slapstick humor the commercials focused on.
