#37I've been called about ten times. Never sat on a trial. Don't want to! The closest I ever came to sitting in the jury box was in San Diego. Girl breaks up with a sailor, things get heated. He punches her on the upper shoulder. She goes to the hospital for a bruise and files criminal charges the next day. Six months later the case comes to trial. The lawyer for the lady asks me if a could be fair because she wasn't seriously hurt. I said my father used to hit my mother at times yet they were still together. I don't think its a big deal. I was dismissed. The key is if you get to that point figure out what one or the other lawyers don't want to hear and then say it when asked. I've showed up in a harley shirt and that's good for bad first impressions. But an aggressive bailiff did say it was disrespectful to the court and asked me to put something over it. Best tactics I've found is to dress sloppy and casual. In California they give a you a stamped card indicating how many four hour session you're served. So I could cop I couple extra hours pay if lucky but that's it. Some employers of mine pay, other wouldn't. Its was usually one to three days pay. In summary I think if someone is smart and clever enough they can still obey the law yet never sit on a trial. G.L. whatever plan of course you decide upon.Originally posted by onlookerIn Nevada it is hard to get out of. They don't care if your a student or are the sole income provider of your household. They want you to show, or will let you reschedule for a future date.
Here they summon you from drivers licences and Nevada Energy. So if you drive and have a home with power, you can get summoned.
My advice for you to do if you don't want selected to sit on the jury. Is to find out the case, and somehow come up with a story that involves something along the same lines of the case. One of the two will not want you. Example: Burglary. Tell your house was robbed or your car got stolen. Make sure you have a story to back it, like when and where it happen.
Deuce, my employer pays for jury duty.

#45I've been twice, but years ago now. Both times I was picked too out of hundreds of people. I was younger so didn't care if chosen and kind of felt proud.
I remember every person trying to make an excuse not to be chosen. It looked pathetic some people. Who gives a ****, just do it babies I felt like saying. The best way to get out is if you know someone that is in the trial. Lawyer, accused, prosecutor etc.
One duty involved an uncle who molested a nephew 20 years ago. Crazy shit I tell you.Comment -

#49At the end of jury duty you get a note from the court stating the number of days served. Whether its 3 hours or 8 you get credit for the whole day. Your employer won't know the breakdown.Comment
