#12Their fine but it takes a few seconds for the hot water to flow and then its never as hot as with a tank heater.Comment -

#16I work with people that do inspections on these things. U will definately use less natural gas compared to the old style water heaters. Probably not worth the price, unless u can get a deal.Comment -

#18Thanks for the feedback. My gas bill is pretty cheap already with a traditional heater.Comment -

#20now that the tax credit is a max of only $500 vs $1500 (30% of cost) i think they will be selling a lot less of theseComment -

Endless hot water i have a large family...plus it takes up very little room, hangs on the wall
plus ya dont heat water needlessly when no one's using itComment -

#24My parents have one, it's really nice and convenient. I don't know that it's worth what they paid for it but long run it may pay for itself. If we lived somewhere colder I'd think a lot harder about it.Comment -

#25I build houses, mostly mid to high-end homes. Tankless are about all we install anymore. Only way to go. No comparison on the efficiency vs. traditional tank wh.Comment -

#26opie i imagine it is a product of location (energy costs) whether it makes more sense to go tankless?
with california's energy costs i think the payback on a 3k tankless (vs a $600 tank) might be a year vs. 5 years or so here in milwaukee?Comment -

#29$3,000 for a tankless??? Holy shit. I've had a tankless in Costa Rica for years now, and they're nowhere near that. Always water on demand, low energy bill every month. But no way in hell it's anywhere remotely close to $3,000. The one that was put into my place when I moved here cost $200. Why the huge difference in cost?Comment -

#31As a home builder, we have installed these when requested.Never heard any complaints about them but with all the things you can put in a new home, you have to prioritize your wants. An old style gas heater is a lot better than an old style electric one.Comment -

#32How is it expensive when the alternative is using energy to heat water 24 hours a day? I thought it would have to be cheaper, no?
I really want to get one, but there's no natural gas where I live (and I'm not keen on having to have a propane tank refilled every month), so it would have to be an electric model.Comment
