I don't have kids but my wife supports me. But I do have a steady job, I do this on the side as it provides payment for some rent and utility and sometime sfor a vacation so we're able to save more on the side for retirement and etc

I don't have kids but My Father is not happy with my gambling. He was visiting earlier today and he saw my account on my computer that I had showing by accident. He doesn't know how to even turn on a computer but knows how to read and he said he was very disappointed in what he saw... He saw that I had a wager for 1k on a UFC fight.... I changed the subject and he just shook his head...

Kids are all grown and know I gamble. It is not a part of the family budget. Been playing with house money for a long time now and it has no effect on personal finance.

When my kids...my wife...or my parents pay my bills then they can decide how I spend my money, I don't hide it...and ironically I tell them games I've lost, as well as won....so they don't think its all win win win ... Im a good father after all !!!

Everyone has vices, whether its at the track, at the bar or shopping too much everyone has a portion of their money they spend on things others never would....I choose sports betting

You say this like it's a bad thing. Do you have a 401K in stocks? That's gambling. Do you have insurance? That's gambling. Do you drive a car? That's gambling with your life as 33,000 people die as a result of automobiles every year in the US alone.

Of course. I have no issues with anyone knowing I gamble.

I'd much prefer that they understand what gambling is about and how to approach it responsibly.

I can't fathom why anyone would view someone as so ignorant as to be unable to grasp a responsible gamblers approach.

Like gryfyn said, as long as you tell them you are doing it responsibly, I don't see why you can't tell them. Using examples of real life money management is probably a better way to teach than telling your kid not to spend his money all in one place.

have no kids yet, but my dad was a gambler when he was young and i knew about it - so i guess kids do pick up habits of their prents - so never gamble when you have kids and brag about your past gambling practices
