Congratulations! I'm the dad of a 13 year old boy, 10 year old boy, 8 (soon to be 9) year old boy, and 5 (soon to be 6) year old girl. Girls are a whole other level to raise than boys are... but I'll tell you what. When they say girls love their daddy's - that is the truth. She "huggy and kissy's" me every morning before I leave for work and when I get home half the time she's running out the front door and catches me in the yard to "huggy and kissy". Wouldn't trade her for anything.
Nothing in the world like being a father. And, remember, the hard times make the good times really, really good.

I'll respectfully disagree!!! With my boys I have to worry about 1 dlck... theirs. With my daughter I have to worry about thousands of them...

I have a 7 month old daughter and another baby due on October. We are very stressed as a blood test revealed that we have a 1 on 75 chance of having a baby with a genetic disorder. The amnio is today.

My daughter is now in her mid 20s.Two boys ,one girl.
Girls are a breeze until they hit 12-13.Boys just the opposite. That gives you 12 years to put your stamp on her in terms of right vs. wrong. If you work hard early, she will be able to deal with the boy thing per your years of advise and solid upbringing.Just remember what Cat Stevens said," from the time I could talk I was ordered to listen". Teach all you can but listen as well. If you do, she will feel the respect that you have for her opinion. It might be a wrong opinion but the fact that you are willing to hear her side with understanding and compassion will open her ears to your sage advise.
Congrats and best of luck.

I have a three year old and 5 month old. Both boys. Best thing that ever happened to me.
They make life more enjoyable. Plus, when you and the lady get a break from them, That time is very enjoyable too.

Father of a 14 month old boy. Like everyone said, it's the greatest joy of my life. Bring a smile to my face everytime I see him. Having said that, get use to life of little sleep for a while as your little girl is going to wake up 4 times a night for feeding and such. Congrats and Best of luck!
