Use any connections you might have--that's the best way to get a foot in the door. And with your background you may want to consider finance/budget jobs with Govt agencies or Defense contractors, although with our upcoming budget cuts those will be impacted. Good luck!

Job hunt inside the "beltway," i.e. as close to Wash DC as you can. Lots of jobs there now and always will be. But again, that clearance is key. It alone is worth $10K-$40K.

Man I graduated in 08 with 2 degrees, had 2 internships, and a decent GPA. I didnt land a "real job" until last month...I bounced around trying different horrible jobs: insurance sales, worked in a cafe for a year and a half, apartment manager for a year. And finally now a decent job. I do high capacity scale sales. Believe it or not. It is a booming industry. hahaha

This is quite true but kids just out of college are looked at as entry level until they have experience.With so many people out there in need of a job , businesses hiring can request 2-4 years experience when in years past fresh out of college was no problem.
Also, if you try to work in D.C.( great place to live and work) younger guys should look to live in Arlington Va. or other affordable locations.Certain counties in Md. and Va. are super nice to live and raise a family down the road.

Hmmm, most people that I know that have worked in D.C. hate it. The traffic is horrible, alot of crazy people, most people are glad to leave.

I do not live in the city anymore( Howard County, Md.) but when I did the N.W. portion in the Palisades area was a dream.Way too expensive these days for most but plenty of great counties in Md.,Va. within 20-30 minutes that are fantastic.
That said,I realize that I know the area so well it makes it a lot easier.If someone told me I had to live in N.Y.City I think I would cut my throat so you might have a point.

Unless you're getting into high frequency, algorithmic trading. A couple of my buds received offers for about 200K-300K right out of graduate school, with bonuses up to 7 figures. Of course, they expected him to work 12-14 hrs/day...

str, the OP said he has military experience so he will certainly not be entry level. I know enlisted kids with no college, but with intel-type backgrounds that are getting 6 figure jobs right out of the military "inside the beltway" or slightly just outside it. If I lose my job here in Tijuana Norte, I'll go to DC immediately as I have 2 standing jobs offers there right now.
