Songs From the 4th Floor is the critically acclaimed 6th album by Nik Phillips. A singer/songwriter who was born and raised in Queensland, Nik has performed his music throughout Australia and New Zealand. He recorded his first album Poetry and Beer in Los Angeles where he resided for three years, performing throughout the US west coast.
Nik’s music is an honest reflection of contemporary Australian life, as lived in our global village. With his musical styles ranging from pop/roots through to alternative/country he is the style of writer who moulds a canvas of lyrics around an emotional melody, and presents a song with a craftsman’s vocal ability.

Nik writes in a style which would rival some of Australia’s more acclaimed writers such as Paul Kelly or Kevin Bennett.
It has a very contemporary sound but has such a broad appeal, it would be at home in anyone’s collection who appreciates the value of good songs. – Bob Anthony Jnr
As a live performer, Nik has few piers. His ability to perform over 300 shows a year sees him play before crowds ranging from the local hotel venue through to capacity football stadium events such as the State of Origin.
Over the last 12 months some performance highlights have included
•
3 nights centre stage at the Brisbane Exhibition before a combined crowd of over 60 000 people
4 shows at the largest ever Gympie Muster.
A host of leading corporate events such as the Queensland Parliamentary Ball.
• Performing in China at the Guangdong Festival
• Receiving a nomination as the best new artist in the Tamworth Golden Guitar country music festival.

Note : Premier Peter Beattie endorsed the 2001 single “Come Back Soon” which was a successful fund raiser for the Red Cross. Nik has also written and recorded the official Qld State of Origin and Qld Reds songs. "In live performance, Nik, his songs and an accoustic guitar can hold an entire audience enthralled, and his albums can do the same..." - Capital News
Depending on the requirements of an event, Nik can perform
•
in a duo format with Mark Chomyn (percussion, didgeridoo, mandolin, harmonica and vocals)
in a trio line up which adds in guitarist Mark Hayden
• or in a full 5 piece line (which includes bass and another guitarist)
All of Nik’s musicians are Queensland artists.
This is an album with depth and conviction, the product of a creative life well-lived and craftily occupied. It’s a collection of songs which will surely resonate, around the state and around the nation. And ultimately beyond.
Like seeds of the prodigious local MoretonBay fig trees, these songs will germinate and grow. And maybe take over a special place in a corner of your mind.
All you have to do is let them. –

Nik Phillips is a unique Australian artist with a world view. His story is one of a craftsman who delivers with passion and honesty. He is the leafy contemplative park in the middle of a big city.
Nik cuts to the darker side almost immediately on the album – taking on board life and its shortfalls. And it’s a warts and all reality….. But just when you think all hope is lost, Nik segues to life’s positives. It’s almost a cathartic process when he emphatically declares that there is a brighter side, filled with love and optimism.
The music of Nik Phillips is thoughtful, eloquent and often questioning and deserving of attention – in this life!

he is the artist that went to east timor to preform to the soldiers

i would like to share a song that he produced about queenland australia
