In some of the shots you can see people trying to get away. That thing was going pretty fast.
Incredible how helpless we can be to something like that.

Notice how the water near shore looks pulled back before the big wave hits. I learned as a kid that if you see the ocean pull back - run!

Much of the earthquake's energy, which can be equivalent to many atomic bombs, ... 7-8 hours from Japan, and 14-15 hours from Chile, but its energy will only ... tsunamis move at speeds approaching a jet aircraft (500 mph or more).
