Its hard to beleive this went on for 40 years in Sacramento County before someone saw it:

I watched the video and was suprised like you were that this was not erased years ago. It could be that the time factor in changing mortgage paperwork language made it easier for people to ignore it. All the same it's pretty crazy that the county clerks office did not strike this clause decades ago.
