#10924Really interesting read Aces. You gotta feel for anyone who has a problem. There are times in life that we all have that we are not proud of, the hope is is that you realize that and move on and make yourself better because of it. I went to Colorado State University to play quarter back. Once on campus all i did was "kinda" practice, go out EVERY night, sometimes go to class, get shit faced and hook up with some strange girl and wake up at a house i didnt recognize. Thankfully i didnt get anyone pregnant. There were fights and police and after my first semester i had a .9 GPA. I was placed on academic probation before i even had the chance to get into a game. Forget about the talking too i got from mom and dad, my temates and my coaches let me have it. I never ended up playing a single game of D1 college football. The real bitch of that was my freshmen year i was 3rd on the depth chart behind 2 seniors. Real playing time was in my hands and i blew it! 4 years later i get chondro sarcoma, a very rare form of cancer that, to my oncologists knowledge, i am the youngest person to be correctly diagnosed with in medical history, in my right arm ( my throwing arm, my EVERYTHING!). Talk about hitting rock bottom. I was depressed for several years. I am lucky to still have my right arm. I can hardly use it, it is more of an ornament than anything else. At my best i was 6'4" and 245 pounds of muscle. I am now 200 pounds and my only outlet for excersise is cardio. However, i met the girl of my dreams through all of this ( who is one of the most intelligent, proud, beautiful people i have ever met) and now have a family who doesnt care about my past, only that my outlook medically is great, and that i am a great father and husband. Do i miss throwing a football the way i could throw it, and have i watched guys who were ranked below me or former teamates go on to the NFL? Absolutely, BUT, i wouldnt have the character i have, the friends i have, or the outlook on life that i have if i hadnt gone theough what i did. I had "it all", but pissed it away to be popular with the ladies and be the crazy guy that all my friends new would do the unthinkable and look at what karma dealt me...
The one thing that i have learned from all of this is that there is always gonna be someone who has it worse than you do. You cant just feel sorry for yourself cuz no one wants to help a quitter. I will NEVER quit, and i hope your friend never does either Aces. Everyone gets a second chance no matter how small it is. I know that sounds really dorky, but i really believe it. Tell your friend that i said good luck, and i hope he truly has learned and is moving on to better things.
Sorry this was so long fellas.

Rhino
Wow!! What a story Rhino, the bad thing is I see alot of myself in that. I got a basketball scholarship to a school called Shepherd college in WV, it's a small Division II school. I went there for about 3, 4 months and hated it, at that time I didn't drink at all, basketball was my everything. This college was a suitcase college where everyone went home on the weekend and it was so boring and I couldn't stand being away from my friends and family and mainly my girlfriend of 3 years so I ended up leaving to go to Marshall University where I had an invitational walk on. I went to Marshall and started working out with the team in the summer but it was easy to see I didn't stand a chance to play unless we were getting blown out or up by 40. I was the best 3 point shooter on the team but at the end of the day I was a 5'10 (in heels) pg and I couldn't guard anyone. Everytime I was on D the opposing pg would take me down low and I had no chance. I would of stuck it out but right before school started that year my dad past away with a sudden massive heart attack. I ended up taking a year off from school and moving to Myrtle Beach SC to just try to clear my mind and get over things and then thats when I started drinking at the age of 21. After that I was never able to take school seriously, I was just like you it was all about the drinking and the parties and what piece of ass I could bring back that night. So needless to say my last few attempts at college were pointless and a waste of money. So now I'm 33 and still pissed how I handled all of that but I don't really have regrets because all of that has made me what I am today and I still have the prettiest jumper you have ever seen. Every choice you make in life has consoquences and as I have gotten older I have realized that and I try to think about them before every action I take. Gambling is just a hobby for me as well although it drives me crazy at times, if I was a losing gambler I wouldn't do it. I only gamble because I have always been able to make money doing it and there is nothing better than making money for just knowing sports although I have learned with gambling some times you have to throw out everything you know and go with the fishy line. Because no matter how much you know, Vegas knows more.Comment -

#10931What up guys! Just checkin in.. been MIA, busy with a move to a new place and work is crazy. Hope everyone is doing well on the books! I am rooting for the Giants in the SB. I've been fortunate enough to take them SU as dogs for the last three weeks (four weeks) and have a pretty nice profit from that. So, I'll be putting that on the Giants in the SB without much stress. I think we saw Brady come back to reality last week and Giants just seem to have that Momentum going for them. Slightly biased pick but its what I'm going with.
Starting to slowly get back into NBA... how is everyone doing this year? Today I have Bulls / Heat u 191.5 as my only play.
BOL everyone enjoy this beautiful Sunday.

#10936Back from my weekend out of town and I had a monster Friday and Saturday, didn't even watch a game and made over 2k. That will make it easier to make a big play on the Pats this weekend, although I want to start tonight and whatever I am up by Sunday unloading it all on Pats.Comment -

#10953Had a nice night last night, thank you Lakers for coming through for me. Had an undefeated night besides a couple of $5 dollar parlays that lost. Won 2nd place in the poker tournament last night, went in with around 58k in chips and Extra Innings had 12k and I ended up losing. I lost on pocet aces and he had Ace Deuce and hit a flush on the river and then then lost again when he hit another flush and finally I went all in with Ace 7 suited and he had Ace K. So overall a pretty good night.Comment -
