Both parties could have handled this ALOT better.

The older women should have minded her own business. Let the subway officials handle the situation.

The younger women should have just ignored her. Whether she is allowed to eat on the subway or not. Keep eating, until someone in an official uniform shows up and tells you to stop.

Had the younger girl, simply kept eating but kept her mouth shut. the older lady would have looked bad.

I'm a major proponent of minding your own business. and not bothering people that are not bothering you.

I remember when Panama City Beach and Pensacola use to be great spring break locations (see the Burger King video) but no more

Atlanta's 'freak nic' moved there a few years ago....police actually had to tear gas the white sand beaches to break up the brawls...sad sad sad.....far as the Spaghetti fight....both the old lady and the kid were annoying as hell.

Well maybe not strictly along racial lines; I'd be for segregation based on a person's being-an-ass factor. The old woman and the spaghetti-eating thuggette would both qualify for the same group imo.

Agreed. Old lady should have mind her business, while the young girl should have just ignored her and not let the old lady upset her.

I used to catch the subway when I was young (not in NY). I think I remember the signs above the doors in each train car. Those signs are merely 'respect public transportation system' rules and not law. If some one were to eat or drink on the train, there really wouldn't be any problem.

If I saw someone eating on the train, I wouldn't have cared less. Maybe this person hadn't eaten all day, who am I to tell him/her she can't eat on the subway.
