I normally bathe them in salt and I'd like to find a healthier way to flavor them w/out adding a bunch of calories.

#4Option #1. Use Cajun Seasoning... Goes great on almost everything...
Option #2. A little bit of Olive oil and a bunch of fresh ground Garlic
Option #3. Fresh Salsa... Makes the world go around...
And I agree with Mr KLC... Fresh Red Baby taters...Comment -

#13The Ms. Dash types I've tried before haven't done it for me, so far. Boiling in butter... depends how much butter needs to be added to make an appreciable difference in flavor. Olive oil could be renamed "calorie oil"; you guys who suggested that are sillies :-p But thanks anyway.
So far, looking into: garlic, basil, dill, paprika, salsa, Cajun seasoning, pepper. Thanks to those helping.Comment -

#16Pepper, Cayene or Paprika. I like to bake potatoes then mash with paprika on top to finish. No salt needed for potato this way.Comment -

#17If I'm boiling them I often add rosemary to the water. If baking (which is far more common in my household since it preserves more of the flavor and more of the nutrients) I'll sometimes slice them (about 1/4") and drizzle olive oil and cracked fresh black pepper. Garlic is nice, too. Roast them for 10-12 minutes per side. This style is really, really delicious.Comment -

#21I find potatoes filling as far as calorie efficiency, when butter and stuff isn't added to it. This surprises me, considering nutritiondata.com indicates the vegetable to be average in that department, and that they have a high GCI. I like to boil them such that they're somewhat firm. Potatoes are definitely on the nutritious side before you add a bunch of stuff to them: http://nutritiondata.self.com/facts/...roducts/2546/2Comment
