#2Should be no problem for you, though. $225 a week is nothing for you, remember? You spend over $100,000 a year eating steak eleventy times a week.Comment -

#7Here is the problem with buying a Prius.
It costs at least 3k more for the cars that "saves on gas".Work that into your payments at whatever % you have to pay.Say the car lasts 7 years.Say the car gets twice the mileage as the old one.Say you fill up once a week.Say it is 16 gallons. That has you buying 8 gallons a week.Say it is 1.00 dollar more.Eight bucks a week times 52 is 416.00 a year. 416 times 7 years is 2912.00 dollars .But you paid at least 3K more and financed it at probably 4% average so add 300.00 more at least. All you did was give more of your money to Ford and the bank instead of less to Exxon.
Try this:
Get a gas card that gives you 5% back on gas purchases that is convenient for you. Go there on 5 cents off Wednesdays if they have that.Fill up every Wed. or whatever..40 cents times 52 times 7 =145.60.That plus 5% of the 2912.00 times 7 years is 1019.20. Total savings is 1164.80.Just be sure to pay it off each month. But you would be paying for gas with cash otherwise so that should not be a problem.
Not much but it's more than you have otherwise and at no inconvenience.
Now I realize that it is good to "go green" but the only "green' that most companies are worrying about is the green that they can make off of you.Comment -

#34Well done on the analysis, and I think a lot of people don't realize that they don't save tons of money, but it is much better for the environment and does use less gas, so theorectially, if everyone bought hybrids, our gas supply would last longer.Originally posted by strHere is the problem with buying a Prius.
