I was in amazement. Have we gotten so politically correct in this country, that we need commercials telling us what to say and what not to say?

#3Sadly... the homosexual agenda is being pushed further and further every day.
Used to, I could watch DIY and/or A&E and you'd always see the fixer up projects involved a husband / wife, male / female engaged, boyfriend / girlfriend. That was all you ever saw. In the last 2-3 years, I'd say it is 30%, maybe a little more, you'll see the same projects except it'll involve homosexual couples doing them.
I don't see where it was 0% 3 years ago... it jumps to 30%+ now. Is 30% of our population queer? I honestly don't know, but I'll be honest... I don't want to see a homosexual couple all happy, huggy huggy, kissing and such. I'm uncomfortable with it and that is just my personal preference. In my house I have the option to control it. It has kind of soured me of the DIY and A&E type shows anymore. If I see that it'll be one of these episodes I turn it off.Comment -

#13Huh... I don't understand why I the backhanded slap. I was neither demeaning nor judgmental. I simply stated my opinion of how I've noticed TV culture has changed and that my personal opinion doesn't want that type of culture change. If that is the lifestyle two parties choose to go, more power to them. But don't shove it down my throat or expect me to watch a show, that I've paid a monthly fee to get, that is showing it. Funny... I'm 35 so I was born 25 years after the 50's left.
My question I'd ask you is why are you fine with none of this homosexual relationships being shown 3-4 years ago and now it being vogue. There were homosexual relationships then too.
Don't understand the shitty comment when I simply stated an observation / opinion without judgement.Comment -

How 'bout this:
Are you the same guy who begins some sentences, "I'm not a racist or anything, but..."?
Caging your hatred and fear behind statements that you're 'just expressing your own opinion' is not only disingenuous, but it's also cowardly.
I have no idea what this means:
In a strange coincidence, my wife and I were talking just last night about how the inclusion of lots and lots of gay couples on those same DIY/house hunting shows you reference was a sign that this country (of course, a lot of those shows come from Canada) was further evolved and more acutely enlightened than one might be led to believe given the constant reminders of anachronistic prejudices, ignorance, and bigotry that constantly bombard us. Thanks for the reminder that here's still much work to be done.Comment -

#17The "homosexual agenda" (really?) isn't a term in and of itself freighted with all sorts of judgment?
Caging your hatred and fear behind statements that you're 'just expressing your own opinion' is not only disingenuous, but it's also cowardly.
I have no idea what this means:
But I will point out that openly gay couples have been featured on the same shows you're talking about for some years. I'll also remind you that several TV shows prior to 2007 featured gay characters. I'll also say that I've always been annoyed by the overall lack of gay characters who are portrayed as something other than stereotypes.
Thanks for the reminder that here's still much work to be done.
If you're coming here telling me that gay couples / lifestyle isn't anymore prevalent on tv now than it was a few years ago you're full of
But, again, since my personal preference of sexual persuasion, and the fact that I, personally, don't want it crammed down my throat is offensive to you I'll just take my bigot ass back into the woods. I don't quite understand what there is to be ignorant about. It seems relatively straight-forward. I even argued that gay couples should be granted all the same rights as a married couple in civil unions. I'm not against those folks that have a same-sex home life. Have at it, I'm just not interested in watching it, or any aspect of it. I don't get why that should piss anybody off. I don't sit and watch the Osbourne reality show either.
I guess my opinion is that hey, at least I'm honest about my feelings and don't hide behind lies and act like I'm cool with it. People know where I stand on the issue and they can either like it or not. Either way, everyone knows where they stand at that point.
All I can say to you is keep fighting the good fight. Whichever good fight you feel that might be.Last edited by Vol_Bengal; 02-18-11, 10:40 AM.Comment -

Yes we have
I am telling you right now, wtt0315, don't call things gay
SBR's own spiritual leader, jjgold, is gay, and that's pretty much an open secret
Rob Halford, the ultimate metal God of all times, is gay
Larry Craig, a great Conservative American political leader, is gay
Anderson Cooper, the most trusted voice in America, is gay
You will respect gay Americans and not call things gay, EVER

#22I hadn't seen this commercial. Is it actually airing, or just for youtube or something?
They did a TERRIBLE job. The kids are cutting up in the restaurant over a little statue or something? And then Wanda corrects them using a PEPPER SHAKER and saying it's "stupid like a kid with a crappy mustache!" - or whatever. I already forgot on account of how idiotic it was.
The commercial almost has a "Saturday Night Live" feel to it, as if it's a satire for stupid commercials.Comment -
