    $1 Million Dollar SUPERBOWL Bet...
    Any thoughts who this was??

    $1 million wager?

Large wagers are nothing new to Las Vegas sports books and entrepreneur Bob Stupak is reported to have placed the largest wager ever, $1 million, on Super Bowl XXIII. Stupak claims to have taken the Bengals and the points, but covered when Cincinnati lost 20-16. But there are rumors that he hedged his bet by putting several hundred thousand on the other side. Now, out of the Luxor sportsbook comes an unsubstantiated report that a bettor has placed a $1 million on the Packers -2.5 (-110). Most books in Las Vegas, including Luxor (MGM Mirage property) have adjusted the juice to -120 but kept the number at 2.5.

A million dollar bet over twenty years ago might have been a big deal. Nowadays it honestly doesn't seem that ridiculous. I'm sure some of these high-stakes internet poker players could put a mil on a game and not even break a sweat.

A story that always comes to mind when someone mentions Bob Stupak: He bet Stu Ungar $100,000 that Stu couldn't count down the last 3 decks of a 6-deck shoe in blackjack. If Stu missed any cards, he'd owe Stupak $10,000. Bob lost the bet.
