A penny is practically worthless. In our fiat money system our penny is "worth" 1 cent but it costs the government 1.5 cents to produce. How stupid is that for a country with 13 trillion dollars worth of debt? Back in the day 1 cent could buy something, today a cent can buy nothing. They should stop making them.
Might not be a bad idea to start hoarding pennies if we're going to see inflation. That 1 cent penny could go from being worth 1.5 cents on up and eventually they'll have to discontinue them.
