as for fico what does it matter if its 500 or 600? you always pay in advance and if not your policy is immediately canceled. so why would there be a huge risk?

i know plenty of people with awful credit (like bk bad) and they have no problem finding low rates.
point is i can provide a thousand more sources that show that credit does in fact affect rates (from reputable companies) and reasons why, versus why they don't check it.

hell this was pulled from over 3 years ago. three statements that stand out to me are:

"If your credit report is blemished, you might not get the lowest insurance rates, despite your spotless driving record. And as a result of a Supreme Court decision last week, your insurer doesn't have to tell you that you're not getting the best rates. The high court overturned a 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruling that said the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act requires insurers to notify customers whenever their credit history prevents them from getting the best available rate"

"research has shown that drivers with poor credit are more likely to file insurance claims."

"26 states have adopted a model law that requires insurers to notify consumers that their credit history might affect their rates"

but it also states "The law also bars insurers from refusing to insure someone based solely on the individual's credit history." so yeah if your credit sucks they can just deny you for something else cause they don't wanna deal with you.

and i at no point said that you CAN NOT get any insurance with piss poor credit.

Alright cool, that's all I can ask for. On the real though, thanks for your help in this thread, am much more knowledgeable, and if I were have to choose the winner of the pissing contest, I'd have to go with you.

            makes sense.

but i guess i live in one of the 24 states where fico doesnt matter.
