Be extremely careful. No kidding. So many ways that living in Uganda will drop your life expectancy by about 20 years.

I knew a couple of Expats that moved into the region (Tanzania) and they are living quite nicely on a military retirement. With just over $43k a year they're living like the upper crust in a spacious home with maids and a gardener.

You know what's sad? When I was younger, I always thought it was Eddy Yamin and that he was Elliot Yamin's brother.

Make sure you get all the shots you need before you go there. You don't want to get sick. And only drink beer or scotch. Don't trust tap water.

Kunta Kentei and Barack Obama are last 2 people I ever heard of getting out of there alive. Good Luck!

Good track record though if you do. One gained his freedom & one became leader of the free world

As long as you have connections you should be fine. People who have financial interests in Africa usually get a lot of hospitality as long as they know what they're getting into.

Damn, Smogs! I sure hope the salary index shot through the roof for this assignment.

Think the closest I go to that place was Nigeria or Saudi Arabia. Nigeria could be dangerous enough when I was there, but probably a walk in the park compared to Uganda right now. All I can say is remember the advice of my good Welsh friend who was living in Hafar during Desert Storm: Duck and weave, duck and weave.
