    Lasik Eye Surgery
    Anyone had it and can tell me their experiences? I been wearing contacts pretty much the last decade or so and used to wear glasses before that. I heard the success rate is like 99.9 percent and never heard a case where someone went blind.

    The thing is i have HORRIBLE vision. I had bad eye sight ever since i was 7 years old. The thing that worries me a bit is if i get this surgery, i think i would feel it being weird at night when i go to sleep because since my eyes are extremely bad, seeing everything real badly helps me. I feel like if i see everything clearly with eyes, then it would be tougher for me to fall asleep.

    Also, how much did it cost you per eye? I think it would cost about $1500 per eye if i'm not mistaken. I buy contacts every year so that cost about $150 per year and i also have to buy new lens for my glasses every year and that cost another $150 because my eyes are extremely bad. I'm around like 1100 degrees on my eyes.

    Would you guys suggest lasik eye surgery?

    i had lasik done when i was 22, its been 4 years+ now and I absolutely LOVE IT!

    even if the doc doesnt give you perfect 20/20 on the first try, you can get it again and fix it.

    i highly rec you getting it. only problem is that it depends on how bad your vision is, go in and get a free consultation.

        It was around 2000 for each eye at my eye doctor but that include one year of monthly check ups and any corrections if need. I would make sure those things are include for the 1500 you said. I have seen places advertise 700 an eye but to find out that does not include any post care. Then if you need any corrections or have problems they hit you up for more money.

                  Had it done 2 years ago. I have one word to describe it - INCREDIBLE. I went from -5 in both eyes to 20/20 vision. No more glasses, no more contacts. $4000 total but worth every penny.

                    Price is all dependent on how much they shoot the laser, mine were 3300 a month ago, before that my wife's were 3950. Just all depends how bad your eyes are. I'm going to have to go back in another month and have them get the left one right, but I still would recommend it.

                      I never had it myself but I will tell you my dad and brother both have. My dad got it several years ago when the procedure first started so he had to get it redone about a year or two ago. He and my brother are two of the biggest advocates for lasik. They tell people all the time and have sent several people to the same eye doctor.

                      From anyone I know who has had it they have nothing but positives to say

                          I just recently had a consultation, and have my surgery scheduled on January 14th.

                          The best part is it's covered 100% under my wife's HRA! Gotta Love It.

                            its the real deal, the procedures today are much better than a few years ago, the safety aspect of the procedure is top noch. Most importantant thing in this procedure is go to a recognised specialist, paying a little extra for the experenced specialist is a must.

                              You are lucky, not many insurance providers cover it. At least mine don't (Blue Cross Blue Shields) and I have a flex plan just for eyes, think it is Superior Vision and they offered zero help also.

                                Couple of suggestions. Research the reputable eye doctors in your area and don't settle for some "radio station" bargain basement deal. You've only got two eyes so you want the best doctor cutting into them. The choice of Lasik vs. PRK is basically asking you do you want Lasik (where they slice into your cornea) or PRK (which is basically shaving the eye) I would suggest passing the cornea "Thickness" test first, as if your cornea isn't thick enough doctors will not do it.

                                  Had it 5 years ago and one of the best things I ever did.

                                  I actually had lasik in one eye and prk in the other (thin cornea). The prk eye was way more painful and took like a week to heal, but now I have better sight in the prk eye (20/15 v. 20/20).

                                            I've been thinking about LASIK for years. Just always get scared off by potential complications. I have an opportunity to get it done for a very low cost due to some flexible spending money through my previous employer. Still have some doubts but gonna check it out again.

                                                          Mine still good from 2005, although admittedly I haven't my eyes checked in several years. I was blind as a bat before the surgery.

                                                            ~~~~
                                                            I would give Lasik Eye Surgery a big fat NO!!
                                                            When I was a college freshman living in the dorms I was having a rough go of it during the 1st semester.
                                                            I blamed it on my heavy drinking or terrible eyesight.
                                                            Ruling out heavy drinking as being the cause of my scholastic problems I had narrowed it down to
                                                            my terrible eyesight.
                                                            I was hearing amazing stories about the fantastic results of Lasik surgery.
                                                            During Christmas break I holed up in my dorm room. The 3rd day of Christmas break,
                                                            making sure no one was in the dorm, I sealed up my room and broke out the laser that I had "borrowed" from the science lab.
                                                            After zapping both eyes "off and on" for 6 hours I decided to stop the zapping and see what would develop
                                                            overnight.
                                                            Fudge...I woke up the next morning totally blind.
                                                            I called a friend and told him to meet me as I needed help badly.
                                                            After resting quietly for 5 days my eyesight was gradually returning and I felt a sense of relief.
                                                            After Christmas break ended I was back to about 50% of my original poor vision.
                                                            SO I Would Have To Give Lasik surgery TWO THUMBS WAY DOWN.
I have an opportunity to get it done for a very low cost due to some flexible spending money through my previous employer. Still have some doubts but gonna check it out again.
                                                              I wound up having PRK done, ultimately a great choice for me. I have better than 20/20 vision now.
