Again this is not sports related so if it is not for you please just look away. There are some of you who like to give honest advice about this kind of stuff so this is for you.
As some of you know I have moved on from this blonde I was with in September and part of October. I truly want that to be in my past, but I do not accept being stolen from. Long story short it was a girl I dated for years in the past who came out of nowhere as I came out of an 8 year engagement and yada yada yada I ended up moving up there very quickly and filled her house with things to take care of her. Anyway moving on.
She said she needed "me time" and I said that's fine, I'll keep everything here so you can be happy, will keep the internet and cable up so you can enjoy yourself, etc. etc. all dumb I know.
Well here we are in November and it is still not wrapped up. Her "me time" meant that she was moving a new guy in (which is fine, I have moved on to someone so much better). I said that is fine - give me all my things back, and give me $75 for cable and internet (which came to over $450 - I had all top of the line over there) so he (she hides behind the dirtbag boyfriend) said Ok. I let this pizza shop manager, which I am not judging but let's judst say I do much better than him, run the show - took blows to the face in words regarding my past with her, personal stuff he said (all stupid and inaccurate, he was just freaked out), my computer which I left only so she could be happy and surf the net and facebook that he was ******* around with, this and that, and I only acted professionally and diplomatic, never fired back about how much better than him I am in every facet, all to focus on closing it out.
So I go down there to get my things back. The vibe was very chill so I decided to keep it that way. They gave many of my things back. The cable boxes, the computer, the TV, etc. It was so chill the way they had everything boxed up and how quick it was I assumed the best. Big mistake.
They kept very personal things of mine that she knows mean a lot to me, things I specifically asked for - a very expensive coffee maker that she loves that she knows my elderly Mother gave to me, all my favorite video games, etc., about $500 worth of stuff. And of course, no money for the cable and internet. They resigned themselves to be simple thieves because they thought they could get away with it by being neglegent. I asked for the remaining things, he said they were done with it and didn't care. I just want to move on, have closure, and be done with it. They live paycheck to paycheck, and I don't want to take it here, but here is where it is headed.
I do not accept being stolen from my dirtbags. I know they made a conscious decision to steal these items and watch the cable and internet on my dime as she lied and said she just needed time for herself and I was so into her and nice that I left everything on. I have spoken to the police and they said they will call her, if necessary and try to wake her up and will try to let her know what I can really do which is - a complaint to the majistrate in their town and a small lawsuit for the $500 or so wirth of items, the full $500 for cable/internet and phone service (I kept paying for that too and she told her friend who talks to me she dropped it in the sink - not the case - I checked it out and they were making calls on it up until 1 day before I came up there - the bf was calling "the activision hotline" with it for help with video games - what a winner!
) and legal fees.
What I offered them was very generous and very considerate. But they have turned their backs in an attempt at theft which they can get away with criminally, but they will eat major shit if I pursue it civilly. They won't be able to fight back because they live paycheck, they will hate me, and I will win.
Does it really have to be like this? What would you do if you were me? Would you just move on? Would you have the po po call them and then sue them which I am leaning towards? I knew this girl 9 years on and off and she turned out to be a total scumbag. I am just trying to move on into a great girl whom I am hitting it off with, but I do need clarity. The main things that bother me are the family gifts - you just do not mess with that. I assume it is some sick game of hers (she is a total psycho) to keep me hanging on in some facet and I do not accept it. She is awful, and I do not want to know her at all.
Just trying to move on. What would be your move here? I don't do illegal things so anything like that would be ignored. I am at a final crossroads with the situation.
What would you do here.
