Cheap Domain name registration?

I do photography/video and have a website, and I'm looking to buy a domain for it. What is the cheapest site to use? I don't want godaddy. So far best I've found has been namecheap which is 10 bucks/year with free whois security for one year.

Namecheap is one of the better options, but they try to sell you the private reg service next year so it loses value.

Name.com is same price and and when using coupon or promo code (w/e its called) free FREEWHOIS you get the privacy for free. That code also works on renewals so it stays $10 per year with the privacy.

If privacy is important to you that's where many registrars make their money. If its not then search around for sale, like google domain name coupon codes etc as can probably find cheaper without the privacy.

Nothing is wrong per se, just weighing my options...What will the WHOIS database list? Not my real name and info will it?
