Steve your dad was awesome if my experience is any indication. We always had two or three engineers with us on missions, those guys were incredible with the kinds of things they could do. I learned how to make homemade "items" from them particularly the boom kinds. I also was a little confused like opti if you meant your actual dad or the old poster. I can't imagine how difficult that must have been for you.

He retired as top dog, chief major engineer running the old Military Ocean Terminal Base (MOTB) in Bayonne NJ, across from the old Brooklyn Navy Yards.

Let me recap the last few days of researching this old forum

-Fidel is missing
-They are handing out Pro status now because the store is toast? Nice gesture of Sbr but what is going on here?
-I have uncovered refugees at another forum now who seem to be replicating the Sbr model?
-3d is still doing right or left threads (that is a good thing)
-The layout looks the same, I never liked the new odds screen change a while back however
-KVB is making videos
-Jj seems basically the same
-Same mods or at least Opti and Shari

I thought we were all in agreeance that SBR is the best forum, why does it seem to be in trouble? Have we now become the dinosaurs or are the actual dinosaurs leaving and it is now Prime Time for the Sbr draft class of 2011 to take over?

The site was sold late last year.

The store has been offline ever since and we have been waiting for the big relaunch ever since.

The old SBR office staff are running Rx and BMR, which used to to be the Euro focused version of SBR for many years.

The new company is pretty big and professional and cashed up. And apparently plan to do the revamp of all backend software at once in the Summer.

We are all tired of waiting for it, even me.

Well I need to get credit for calling a good one without even knowing him. You have to understand I was more of a ground level guy that basically just buys time for the rest of them. The engineers I met which were few, were always smart and good dudes. Your dad being the top dog means he was smart as hell so basically amazing. My first thought when reading the clip was saddness that the old facility was coming down, but I'm sure you understand how the world goes. The story you laid out certainly raises suspicions and as I said before I can't imagine what you went through.

I do appreciate many I've interacted with on here. I still think of road team RL's and having a target range in MLB from you. My ego probably got in the way several times between us but Im glad to hear that you are doing well.

Opti this was unbelievably informative and concise. I'm guessing Im like the 1000 person to ask what happened so maybe he has it cut and paste already but that was what I needed to hear. I hope the new crew does a great job

The military base had to come down, it served it's purpose, it did it's job, and it well.
WWII was decades ago,
Now UPS sits there, it's also a dock for a cruise ship line.
