#144I just read on one of those music trades that the three most underrated bands of the 70's were Thin Lizzy, Sweet, and one of my all-time favorites, Mott The Hoople.
Ian Hunter had the hooks, the looks, he was as real a rock star as there ever was one.
David Bowie wrote this, Ian Hunter sung it, and Mott backed it up.
You know what's better than Bowie and Hunter?
McCartney and Lennon that's about it.
My favorite.
If you don't like this, you just might not like rock and/or roll.

#156I had no idea where to put this, but it's in keeping with his Twitter activity, only about 4 or 5 a year. Check some classic replies, like the one from Steve Martin: "now at goalie position, A Complete Unknown"
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">I ran into one of the Buffalo Sabres in the elevator at the Prague hotel. They were in town to play the New Jersey Devils. He invited me to the game but I was performing that night.</p>— Bob Dylan (@bobdylan) <a href="https://twitter.com/bobdylan/status/1844127739626078492?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw" >October 9, 2024</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Offering to the thread: I'm not really a Bob Dylan guy, but I like a handful of his songs, Isis absolutely one of them.

People sometimes bag on Peter Gabriel looking old now. Well, that was almost 50 years ago. He really looks un-recognizable to me in the early photos.
Genesis as a group was so different on the early albums. To their credit, they still sounded very good in the early 80s.
I was a fan of the early Peter Gabriel solo work. His voice sounded so unique. Great stuff, and then he went Pop.Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment -

#174Nashy, there's been a lot written about The Clash, and I'm still not sure I understand the whole thing.
1) They were a great band. It's sometimes said that "The Clash were the only band that ever mattered."
2) I know they were vocal on current events. In that way, they were a voice of the people.
3) Early Clash sounded fantastic. But I sensed that it was more attitude than sound.
4) I know that Mick Jones departed. Don't think they were the same after Mick left.
5) The later Clash albums weren't too well-received. But that's not atypical for the cycle of a band.
Joe Strummer died at an early age. That's life.Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment
