I can't make out the sign for, walk or don't walk (cross the street sign).
But I live by the rule if, I'm on foot and entering a roadway especially a busy intersection I protect myself by looking and making sure some dumbazz not running a red or going too fast to stop.
I don't know if that makes it your fault if you don't, but if you get run over does it really matter who fault it was.
So, in conclusion always protect yourself, don't expect others to be looking out for you. CYOAComment -
It is hard to say the guy was in the crosswalk so if light was green it he had the right of way. But the van stopped like he had a red light unless he was just looking to see if the guy was Ok.Comment -

I remember years ago when we were coming home from a late showing of Titanic . About 1 AM we are coming closer to home and i noticed this older black lady crossing in the middle of a busy street . She almost appeared to me to walk directly into the car ahead of me.
There were these couple of cars pulled over to the side of the road and after the guy pulled over he was obviously pretty distraught. He was a Mexican guy. The lady was like 70 years old or so. She had gotten hurt mainly in her leg.
So the police come and take everyones report. After this i get a call from the insurance company of the Mexican guy. I told them there was something very fishy about the whole thing . That they just so happened to be there pulled onto the side of the road at 1 AM when she got hit. I had a weird feeling they put the old lady up to it to try and get money.
Then he says what about the guy on the side of the road that got hit too? I was like - "What guy on the side " Apparently the guy by the car tried to say he swerved to miss her and hit him too with his mirror.
I knew that was a 100% lie as the lady hit was 3 lanes in and nowhere near any of the cars on the side of the road. So i knew the entire thing was a set up.
A couple days after that the lawyer of the Lady called and wanted me to say the guy was speeding and driving recklessly. I refused to lie and told him i know the whole thing was a set up. I had full view of what happened and i am not going to screw some innocent guy over go you can scam money out of him. He started cursing at me so i just laughed and hung up .
To this day i wonder what would have happened to that guy had i not been there.Comment -
