Those fires literally surrounded my town, Westhampton Beach. Very weird Saturday afternoon - the real downside was the St Patrick's Day Parade fundraiser was canceled bc it was to be held later that day at the airport brewery. Fun party and I'm friends with one of the bands playing.

Here's the weird part: instantaneously four fires started in the pines - like four consecutive towns sparked up & as dry and windy as it was yesterday there's been several heavy and sustained rains over the past few weeks, as recent as Wed night.

No word yet on what started them, but it certainly wasn't drought situation. Just a clear windy day.
