#41lol you just reminded me of a hockey phrase.... when the goalie gets beat pretty badly.... and they are running the replays of the goal.Originally posted by Al MastersHockey after a team loses.. when a coach says either of these things in his press conference.
They say this shitt all the time.
A) We got to get more traffic in front of the net.
B) We didn’t play a full 60 minutes.
If you didn’t play a full 60 minutes how come my bet was graded a loss.
He had "No Chance On The Play" lol Really? He didn't have a chance on the play? lol Some of these color commentators. Unreal.Comment -

#42I remember years back a lot of NBA players caught using this in an interview. Kobe Bryant. Lebron James. Almost every question asked... they came back with.... well... "It is what it is." lolOriginally posted by TheGoldenGooseYou guys can't get by 2 posts without dragging Race or Politics into the discussion.

#50Originally posted by stevenashThat would be Kevin Harlan, IMO the best in the business.
"Johnson parachuting down from the rafters to snare the rebound"
Seriously too, the first time I heard that, I couldn't even believe it. I thought it was some mistake. Then, he said it again in the same game and I fell to the floor laughing. Its his voice which is unique and my first thought was where the hell did he come up with that at. Something I will never forget.Comment -

Like is say, right now, Harlan is the best in the game today.
Well spoken, always 100 percent prepared, total passion for sports, and just as important, doesn't take himself too seriously as he will often be the first to poke fun at himself.Comment -

#52"Bet that!" or "Bet"- Lots of homies would say this to me when I worked in the hood. Most of the time it was just "bet" with obviously nothing to do with gambling. So, I started saying it too. I like it. Just say bet that or bet to people because it might plant the seed in their minds to start betting as well. And the more gamblers the better.Comment -

#54I always liked Harlan too... but this past NBA season... I really thought he was trying harder... exaggerating.... it was a little ridiculous at times. And really... why even try harder? He is the best in the business... just do your thing... don't overreach for words etc.Originally posted by stevenash^

He's not flawless, but he's always prepared to the teeth, and very personable.

"I could care less" when they mean "couldn't care less" grates a little on me. Saying the exact opposite of what you mean to save half a syllable..Comment -

#59Not to be the grammar pedant, but "Me and John" (or John and me) is correct when you are the object of the phrase. As in "the bus hit me and John". "I" is correct when you are the subject, as in "I and John got on the bus".Originally posted by JIBBBY

If you remove the "and John" from each sentence it becomes obvious which one is correct where..Comment -

"My mother and I went for lunch", rather then "me and my mother went for lunch". You sound selfish and like trailer trash when you say "me" first in any spoken sentence. Just my take.Comment -

#63Optional's example and explanation using John was right though. You just used a different grammatical structure in your reply. Yours was right too.Originally posted by JIBBBYIt's "John and I", not "me and John". That's proper spoken English..

Another example of what Optional was saying: "The dog came up to me and John" is grammatically correct. If it were only you, you obviously wouldn't say "The dog came up to I." So to say "John and I" would be incorrect in that specific situation for the same grammatical logic.
Doesn't matter all that much, it's just how we've established English grammar for whatever reasons.Comment -
