The report admits they contemplated but DECLINED charging Trump with a violation of the “insurrection act”. Which means they tried to impeach Trump for something prosecutors decided he could not be charged with.
Worse still, the report claims “Courts have found or described the attack on the capital as an insurrection”. Citing the Colorado decision (!!!) which was UNANIMOUSLY overturned by the Supreme Court.Comment -

Leave alone for a moment the violent attack on the Capitol on Jan 6 and look at all the other highly incriminating evidence revealed by the House Committee and by Jack Smith into how Trump attempted to thwart the will of the voters and remain in power.
I've not seen any repudiation from DipShit of the numerous (almost all by Republicans) recollections of what transpired between the election and Jan 6. All he banks on is the stupid claim that nobody has been charged with "insurrection" therefore there wasn't any. He really has zero comprehension the legal reasoning for that.
Numerous defendants of their Jan 6 crimes clearly pointed the finger at Trump for inciting their attack on the Capitol.
The Constitution is quite clear. Trump should never be permitted to attain any office again. Several courts have agreed.
But the highly partisan SCOTUS simply squibbed the issue and referred it to Congress to take action ... fat chance with half of them being cowards afraid of retaliation.
And further, the Constitution refers to providing "comfort" to those who choose to engage in insurrection.
Just listen to the speech Trump made telling them how they are loved for their support.
And particularly for his promise to pardon those who have been found guilty, including many who were found guilty of violent attacks on law enforcement personnel.

Then Comey took classified documents and gave them to his neighbor. That's a crime.
